Every year, Club Zamana recruits a new class of Operating Committee Members (OCMs). These members are generally first or second-year undergraduate students at Columbia, and their job is to help support the roles of the various Executive Board members who have been elected in the previous year. If you’re excited about starting initiatives to engage the greater South Asian community at Columbia, we would love for you to come join our Zamana family <3
We have an interview process that takes place twice every year, at the beginning of Fall and Spring semester. For the 2020-2021 school year, we will be hosting interviews on the weekend of September 19-20th. Attached here is the sign-up link!
In addition to being an OCM, you can get involved with Zamana through our Big-Little Program. Launched in 2019, the program aims to foster community relationships for underclassmen, and matches each participating first-year with an upperclassman mentor who can provide support, advice, and a sense of community. “Bigs” are expected to initiate a relationship with their littles and welcome them to Columbia. We appreciate the interest of both upperclassmen “bigs” and first-year “littles”. Stay tuned for links to sign up for this program!
Outside of these programs, Zamana hosts a number of political, social, and community events throughout the year that are open to all members of the Columbia community. To stay up to date on all upcoming events, sign up for our newsletter here:
Finally, Columbia is also home to over 14 other South Asian organizations, with Zamana acting as the umbrella organization for this broader South Asian intergroup. These clubs span a wide variety of interests, including performing arts, religion, and political advocacy. See below for a list of organizations and some links to their respective pages.
